Man United are said to be monitoring the Christian Pulisic situation, with the Reds keen on a loan move for the attacker.
Manchester United Football Club lost Cristiano Ronaldo last month, with the Portuguese superstar’s contract terminated by mutual agreement. His minutes need replacing.
Albeit the production wasn’t there by the end of his time here in Manchester, the squad is already somewhat thin in the final third. A signing simply has to be made sooner rather than later.
The Reds have been linked with a move to bring in Christian Pulisic somewhat recently, with the American struggling to implement himself in the Chelsea starting line-up on a regular basis.
Now, according to The Sunday Mirror, United are still keen on Pulisic. Their article is actually about Newcastle United interest in the Chelsea man – though typically, the Reds get a mention.
Apparently, United are ‘monitoring the situation’ of the 24-year-old, though the Old Trafford side would prefer a loan rather than an outright purchase of Pulisic. Arsenal are also interested.
It’s thought that Chelsea would prefer an outright sale at this moment in time, with the Stamford Bridge side looking for around £40m to let Pulisic leave.
Pulisic’s strong World Cup campaign makes him a more attractive proposition than he was a few weeks ago, with the player proving that he can compete at the highest level against the best players.
However, I struggle to see how United will get this deal done – particularly if Chelsea are determined to sell Pulisic permanently. You get the feeling that Newcastle will make a bid to buy outright when the January transfer window opens.
It’s a shame because Pulisic absolutely represents a nice short-term option. His versatility would have been huge going into the second half of the season – though right now, the chances of United getting this deal done feel pretty slim.
