We’ve been here before, no doubt we’ll be here again. Man United are monitoring Cristiano Ronaldo, apparently…
Manchester United Football Club need a perfect summer transfer window if they’re serious about challenging for major titles next season.
Doing that is obviously easier said than done, particularly with money still being tight due to COVID-19. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still one or two top-quality players away. Enter, Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to The Athletic, United are ‘monitoring’ the world-class star’s situation at Juventus. It’s stated that the 36-year-old ‘could genuinely leave’ the Old Lady this summer.
Ronaldo’s time in Juventus has been rather underwhelming. From not getting close to winning a Champions League title, to losing Serie A to Inter Milan this term.
With the United legend not getting any younger, perhaps it’s time for one final career change for the Portuguese superstar.
Should United offer him a way back to Old Trafford?
Honestly, it feels like we end up back here discussing this rumour every other transfer window. At this point, I’m pretty bored of it.
You get the feeling it’s just paper talk as Ronaldo may well leave Juventus, but I just don’t see how he fits back in at Old Trafford.
This team is heading in a different direction right now and I’m not quite sure spending massive wages on an ageing player is the right move to make.
I’m not doubting Ronaldo’s talents and abilities, he’s obviously still an elite level player. I just think right now, centre-back, central midfield and right-wing should take priorities. United need long-term solutions, not quick fixes.
For what it’s worth, I’d doubt Ronaldo would even want to come back at this stage either, so this one feels like an absolute non-starter from all angles.
