Man United ‘monitoring developments’ with Marcus Thuram

Man United have their sights set on Borussia Monchengladbach forward, Marcus Thuram.

Erik ten Hag is currently working a man down up front after losing Cristiano Ronaldo. The Dutchman is no doubt pushing hard, behind the scenes, to bring in some form of replacement.

Getting someone in is easier said than done in the mid-season window. That task is made harder by the very public news that the Glazer family are looking to sell. Why would they pump more money into the club at this point?

Credit where it’s due, Ten Hag is working wonders in every aspect right now – so he should be given exactly what he wants at this stage.

Enter, Marcus Thuram.

It’s the Daily Mail with the claim. They state that United are ‘monitoring developments’ of the 25-year-old player, who is out of contract this summer.

As things stand, the forward is free to talk to overseas clubs about signing some sort of pre-contract deal, though United are likely to be restricted to loan moves only this month.

The club have been evaluating a number of options, including a loan move to bring in Vincent Aboubakar.

There’s no doubt that signing Thuram on a free transfer would be regarded as a smart piece of business as this squad continues to adapt and evolve. It’d bring some much-needed depth to the final third of the pitch due to the Frenchman’s ability to play out wide or up front.

That said, Thuram shouldn’t be regarded as the main striker. I don’t believe he’s someone who’ll guarantee goals every single game from that position. Rather, he should be a rotational piece if acquired.

Do you think a Man United move for Marcus Thuram would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
