Man United are seemingly eyeing a move for Everton youngster, Jarrard Branthwaite.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United are big believers in youth. Just look at last night, when a debut was handed to talented teenager Shola Shoretire.
Although the Red Devils would like to be competing season-in-season out, this club always has one eye on the future; enter Jarrad Branthwaite.
The report comes from the Daily Mail, who, this weekend, claimed United have the talented 18-year-old defender on their transfer radar. Why, you ask? the Reds want a centre-half this summer.
Branthwaite actually played four Premier League games for his current club Everton this season – before heading out on loan to Blackburn Rovers in search for regular game time.
By all accounts, he has massively impressed the Championship outfit – with the so-called big clubs starting to take notice.
Although it’s claimed United would like to add another centre-half with experience, Branthwaite seems like a real target with the long-term in mind.
The Englishman who was born in Carlisle actually only cost £1m just last year. No doubt if United firmed up their interest with an official bid, he’d now cost an awful lot more.
Would Branthwaite be a good addition?
It’s probably too early to say, but it’s a gamble worth taking. For the player, he’d be moving to the best place in England to learn his trade and improve as a player.
For United, it’s about signing yet another promising youngster who could potentially turn into a legend for this club. When you factor in United’s defensive struggles, I’d literally take anyone over Victor Lindelof right now.
