Man United ‘move ahead’ of rival in race to sign Ruben neves: report

Man United are now in the drivers seat in the race to sign Ruben Neves.

It does feel as though the need to sign a new midfielder is there for Manchester United, though there’s been no real solid links in regards to potential signings; until now…

Manchester United are being linked with a move to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ruben Neves. The Portuguese, who has greatly impressed since moving to the Midlands, is just about ready to make that jump up in class to an elite club.

Now, according to talkSPORT, United ‘move ahead’ of rivals Arsenal in the race to sign the classy 24-year-old. Furthermore, the Molineux outfit are willing to sell the midfielder for a fee of around £35million.

The first thing that jumps out to me is what a bargain price that is for a top-quality footballer.

Neves has Premier League experience so there’s one major box ticked, while this guy is only going to improve. He’s been around for a fair while, yet he’s still only 24 – meaning there’s still room for further development.

Factor in the point that Neves would be playing with better players should he make the move to Manchester and you’d expect to see another jump up in quality.

No doubt he’d be welcomed with open arms, particularly by compatriot Bruno Fernandes, who would be excited by the prospect of playing with his countryman.

You’d imagine that if United were serious about this one, they’d have no problem fending off interest from Arsenal, who had a pretty poor season last time around.

This rumour is interesting but it’s fairly fresh, so let’s wait for further developments.

Would a Man United move for Neves make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
