A Man United move for Jadon Sancho is as close to completion as it has ever been.
It feels like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been chasing a move for Jadon Sancho from pretty much the moment he was made permanent manager. The Norwegian gaffer has identified a weakness in that right-wing spot – and one he’s looking to fill in the long-term.
Sancho, infamously, remained at Borussia Dortmund last summer when United refused to meet the £108m asking price. Now, with just two years left on his deal with the German club, that fee has been lowered somewhat significantly.
Journalist Sam Pilger offered us an update on Sancho’s future this morning and it’s a hugely positive one for the Red Devils.
Apparently, United are ‘closer than ever’ to securing a deal for the top-class 21-year-old after ‘significant’ progress has been made. All parties want the move to happen as quickly as possible at this stage.
Sancho, who is currently away with England, is yet to feature at the European Championships and this pending transfer could well be why.
Obviously, Sancho’s head will be thinking about where his domestic future lies and that is a distraction neither player nor Gareth Southgate will want at this time.
In terms of what Sancho would bring to United, where else to start but his insane goal contribution numbers? He had 16 goals and 20 assists last term, from the wing. Add that to a squad containing Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood, then you’ve got some real menacing threats at your disposal.
Hopefully, it’s not too long before some sort of official announcement is made on the deal. Right now, all the signs are positive!
