Man United have named a 22-man squad for the Europa League away game vs Sheriff
Manchester United Football Club absolutely need a victory in their Europa League match against Sheriff tomorrow night.
Losing at home against Real Sociedad has cost the Red Devils some early ground, though this match presents the perfect opportunity for a bounce back.
The lads are already Moldova-bound, with United always likely to take a strong travelling party for this one – particularly following the cancellation of our weekend game against Leeds United.
Well, the squad news is now in, with the Reds taking a 22-strong party to Moldova. A trio of academy graduates are included in the form of Radek Vitek, Zidane Iqbal and Charlie McNeill. However, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Donny van de Beek and Marcus Rashford miss out with injury. Martin Dubravka is also, weirdly, missing.
Check out the Man United squad for the game vs Sheriff in full here:
Goalkeepers: De Gea, Heaton, Vitek.
Defenders: Lindelof, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia, Varane, Dalot, Shaw.
Midfielders: Fernandes, Eriksen, Fred, Casemiro, McTominay, Iqbal.
Forwards: Ronaldo, Antony, Sancho, Elanga, Garnacho, McNeill.
This is a really nice squad, with a good blend of youth and experience. We have to be honest. Whatever starting line-up Erik ten Hag opts for, United simply have to bring all three points back home.
I would’ve loved to see Dubravka travel for this one, with the experienced shot-stopper no doubt chomping at the bit to start his first game in Reds colours.
It’ll also be intriguing to see how much faith the gaffer places on the shoulders of the youngsters. Both Alejandro Garnacho and Iqbal absolutely deserve starts. I do hope they’re both given that opportunity here.
Realistically, this feels like a good moment for the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Casemiro and even Harry Maguire to find some form.
