Man United have named a 26-man party for the Europa League final against Villareal tomorrow.
This is it. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time is now. Bringing the Europa League back to Manchester is an absolute must if this season is to go down as a successful one. Win it and 2020/21 becomes a 7/10 campaign, lose it, I can’t give it more than a 4/10.
The progress is there for all to see but there’s no better way to back that up than by lining the trophy cabinet. Make no mistake about it, Villareal will be an extremely tough opponent but if our lads play to their capabilities, we should be okay.
Ahead of that game, we’ve now been given more information about the travelling party. Solskjaer has named a 26-strong squad for the big game. There is one notable absentee – and it’s not Harry Maguire. In fact, 25-year-old Anthony Martial misses out with an ankle injury, which is a great shame.
All the big question marks surrounding Maguire’s fitness will no doubt continue. Our club captain has travelled and it’ll be very interesting to see if the Englishman trains in Gdansk later on today.
There are places in the squad for young goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, while Anthony Elanga, Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire all travel. No doubt this will be a great experience for these guys.
Regular faces like Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford all travel. I’d like to think all four of these guys will be given starts in Poland tomorrow evening.
