Man United have eyes on Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee ahead of a massive summer transfer window.
Manchester United made a big splash to sign Rasmus Hojlund last summer, with the Dane already looking like a quality signing, particularly the long-term.
However, with Anthony Martial providing no output this term, while he’s also going to depart Old Trafford, another attacker simply has to be brought in.
Several names have been linked with a move to fill that void, including Joshua Zirkzee.
Gazzetta have provided an update on the future of the Bologna man this weekend.
Apparently, Inter Milan are now keen on signing the Dutch striker, who has enjoyed another impressive season with the Serie A club Bologna this term.
Inter will not have it all their own way, though, with United, along with Arsenal, viewed as a ‘big threat’ for the signing of the 22-year-old.
Gazzetta highlight the Premier League ‘purchasing power’ as a potential key factor, with finances available that is ‘unknown’ to Milan.
Around £34.5m is thought to be enough to get a deal done for Zirkzee, who has scored eleven goals in 33 appearances across all competitions this season.
As a result, Milan are now starting to look at other options, which could suggest they already believe Zirkzee is Premier League bound.
The big concern for United here is Arsenal’s interest. Mikel Arteta needs an extra source of goals as Gabriel Jesus continues to struggle in that department. The Gunners will have Champions League football on the table. United will not…
For Ten Hag, it’s about identifying and signing a player who is happy to dip in and out of the side, as it’s still Hojlund’s job to lose at this point in time. Perhaps Zirkzee, at this stage of his career, will also want guaranteed starts.
This one feels like a long shot to me, though the situation can change…
