Man United are amongst the frontrunners to sign Darwin Nunez.

Erik ten Hag has a huge task on his hands to turn Manchester United’s fortunes around. The realists amongst us will know that this job isn’t going to be one that just happens overnight.

In reality, it’s going to take several years to turn united’s fortunes around – though you gotta’ start somewhere, right?

Amongst the players who has been touted to make an Old Trafford switch this season is Darwin Nunez. The Uruguay international has been linked with a Reds transfer for pretty much the whole summer.

The latest update in the saga comes from journalist Sebas Giovanelli, who took to Twitter yesterday evening to share his latest information.

According to Giovanelli, United are amongst the teams that ‘are closest’ to signing the prolific 23-year-old attacker, along with Newcastle United. The journalist also states that both sides have already made a bid for Nunez.

Nunez enjoyed an incredible 2021/22 season, scoring a huge 34 goals in 41 games across all competitions. Not only was the attacker doing it at the domestic level, he also impressed in the Champions League too.

With Mason Greenwood no longer here (and for good reason), with both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial struggling, a new attacker is a 100% necessity going into the new campaign.

Nunez has the potential to be amongst the best players in his position in the not too distant future and it’d be an incredible piece of business if the Red Devils could pull it off.

Cristiano Ronaldo needs help, while United’s track record of buying players from Portugal is actually pretty good. Nunez would be following a long list of players who have plied their trade in that country, before flourishing here at Old Trafford.

There’s no doubt Nunez would take a massive chunk out of the budget, but this is someone who has the potential to single-handedly turn our fortunes around.

Would a Man United move for Darwin Nunez make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. How come everyone of Eric Ten Hag’s transfer targets, we are hearing that they are going to come to Man.Utd? Then again we hear things that the players do not want to come etc.,it is really very strange how these transfers are. This is how Man.Utd owners keep playing mind games with the fans and finally they are fooled till the very end with finally the news that they do not have the funds to buy players and then the transfer window closes. I think we have been loyal fans for a long time expecting betterment with utmost patience from these so called owners promising so much but taking the mick. We now as fans, if nothing comes about, giving it a few months not because of the coach but because they not fast on buying the players, we would change our minds of being fans at this club.
