Man United named as possible landing spot for Sergio Ramos: report

Man United is a possible destination for Sergio Ramos, who will leave Real Madrid this summer.

As soon as it was announced that Sergio Ramos will leave Real Madrid after sixteen years at the club, Manchester United were always going to be linked with a move for the Spaniard.

I’ll admit I thought it’d take a little longer than 12 hours, but there you go. The story comes from Spanish publication AS, who state that United is a ‘possible destination’ for the world-class centre-back. As you’d expect, though, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will face stiff competition.

I vaguely remember United being linked with Ramos before when the centre-back was angling for a new contract. This time around, things feel different and it does look as if the now 35-year-old will be leaving the Spanish capital.

United won’t have it all their own way, mind. Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla are all keen on signing Ramos too.

As we all know, United are desperate to sign a centre-half partner for Harry Maguire. Ramos is a winner, a leader, a player that everyone else in the dressing room would look up to.

Although Ramos will cost a pretty penny in terms of wages and he’ll only be at his best for a couple of years, this is a player you just cannot ignore.

The winning mentality he’d bring to Old Trafford would be crucial and to have an elite level player like Ramos in our squad cannot be understated. Don’t forget he’d be available on a free transfer, too, so it’s a relatively risk-free signing – and it would be an unbelievable addition if Solskjaer could pull it off.

Would a Man United move for Sergio Ramos make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
