Manchester United pulled off a blockbuster move for Edinson Cavani on deadline day, with the Red Devils getting their hands on the Uruguayan striker.
Cavani has since been handed the number seven jersey at Old Trafford, though we’ve seen that iconic number come with plenty of pressure – that other players have eventually failed under the weight of…
However, 33-year-old is an experienced professional. You’d imagine he’ll be able to cope with the weight of expectation on his shoulders and it’s fair to say Cavani has made a pretty good first impression on the fans.
The Old Trafford Faithful will have to wait a little while longer to see their new man in action, mind. According to the BBC, the new United signing is set to see his debut delayed due to quarantine rules.
As Cavani was a free agent, he’s yet to be a part of the ‘elite athlete bubble’. Meaning, he’ll have to self-isolate for the next fourteen days. The BBC state that he’ll likely miss United’s next two games.
So what games will Cavani miss?

Obviously, this is less than ideal. However, these are the rules in place at the moment and United have no choice but to follow them.
It’s a particular blow for the Newcastle game as Anthony Martial now has a three-match Premier League suspension. It’ll probably mean either Odion Ighalo, or even Mason Greenwood leading the line, with no adequate back-up on the subs bench.
For United, it’s about getting Edinson Cavani up to speed as quickly as possible. His experience, leadership, winning mentality and passion will certainly be a huge lift for that whole dressing room. Hopefully, he can make an instant impact albeit his debut is delayed…
