Man United not giving up on signing Leny Yoro this summer

Man United could still make a move to sign Leny Yoro from Lille this summer.

Manchester United Football Club are now working hard behind the scenes in order to strengthen the playing squad for Erik ten Hag.

The Old Trafford side are closing in on a deal to sign striker Joshua Zirkzee, with all eyes now on bringing in a centre-half of real quality.

The three names linked with filling that void are Jarrad Branthwaite, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro. It’s the Dutchman De Ligt who appears to be at the front of the queue as things stand.

Yoro is perhaps the most talented of the trio, with Sky Sports News providing an update on the future of the Lille man.

According to Dharmesh Sheth, Yoro’s preference is a move to Real Madrid, though Lille themselves want to sell to United as the Old Trafford club have met the asking price.

United are not giving up on signing the 18-year-old, who has just one year left on his contract at Lille. That contract situation is why this transfer is so finely balanced for the Ligue 1 club.

What’s intriguing is that United haven’t ruled out signing two centre-halves, though that could rely upon the Old Trafford side selling either Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire.

Check out Sky Sports News’ X post on the information here:

United cannot afford to spend to much time chasing a player who prefers a move elsewhere. The ball is in Yoro’s court as he can choose to stay at Lille, then move to Real Madrid for free next summer.

At this point, I’d be surprised if United win this race. Although Yoro refuses to rule out an Old Trafford switch this summer, it does feel like a long shot.
