Man United now confirm extent of Casemiro hamstring injury

Man United have confirmed the extent of the Casemiro injury – and it’s bad news…

Just when you think it cannot get any worse, it seems to do just that for Manchester United.

Just earlier today, we covered a claim from The Athletic which suggested Casemiro was dealing with a hamstring strain. The severity of which was not yet known, though we assumed a strain isn’t too bad and he’d be back in a week or so.

Well, Manchester United themselves have now confirmed the extent of the injury to the key man, ruling out the player for ‘several weeks’.

It seems as though the hamstring issue is initially worse than first-feared, leaving United with another lengthy injury to a first-team regular. The midfield has looked porous even with the Brazil international in there. I dread to assume how it’s going to perform without him.

While it’s true Casemiro hasn’t looked anything close to his best form that he displayed last season, this is a massive loss. He’s the only real recognisable defensive midfielder within the squad right now. It’ll likely mean an increase in minutes for both Sofyan Amrabat and Scott McTominay, though by trade, they tend to be more box-to-box midfielders.

With games coming thick and fast, Casemiro is set to miss some massive matches in both the Premier League and Champions League.

I’d like to think that he’ll be back after the November international break, which takes place after United’s game against Luton on November 11th. No doubt Case is targeting a return against Everton on November 26th in 23 days time.

Get well soon, Case!
