Just under a week ago, we covered a story from A Bola in Portugal, in which they claimed that Manchester United were confident a deal for Bruno Fernandes could be agreed within a week…
Well, here we are – and the Portuguese is yet to sign for the Red Devils. In fact, a move doesn’t even look close at this point.
Anyway, A Bola have another update in regards to Fernandes’ proposed transfer away from Sporting CP – and it’s good news for United fans.
Their latest report states that Manchester City are actually not interested in signing the top-class 24-year-old, with The Metro now adding that United are the frontrunners to acquire Fernandes.
Rated at £71million, Fernandes wouldn’t come cheap but the proof is in the pudding. The 24-year-old scored a mightily impressive 28 goals last term – which goes some way towards explaining the hefty price tag.
Although City have ruled themselves out of moving for the Portuguese, The Metro claim that Tottenham Hotspur could get involved in the chase after Christian Eriksen admitted that he’d like a new challenge next season…
Again, Spurs have Champions League football on offer whereas United don’t. Immediately, that gives Mauricio Pochettino an advantage should they firm up their interest with an official bid.
