Man United are now progressing over a new contract for Kobbie Mainoo.
Manchester United have always preferred to pay their young stars earlier rather than later. The Red Devils want to tie down their mega talents, in order to scare off other potential interested parties.
Yesterday, we covered a claim which stated Kobbie Mainoo is all set to sign a new Manchester United contract this summer.
It makes sense given his rapid rise to fame. Mainoo has been among the Reds’ best players since breaking into the first-team back in November.
However, Footy Insider seemingly believe that deal is moving quicker than we all realised. According to their latest information, United are now in ‘advanced’ talks with the young player over that new contract.
Apparently, an agreement between the Red Devils and the teenager is ‘very close’, with Mainoo set to be given a ‘huge’ pay rise.
Mainoo only recently signed a deal in February 2023, though United are looking to tie down one of their best assets until the late 2020s with these fresh terms, after a remarkable run of form over the last five months.
The young man has been the standout player. There’s no denying that pure fact. United are a better team with him in it, which is scary to think about given the fact that he’s still so young in footballing terms.
There’s no bigger compliment to Mainoo than the fact he’s already started for England. Aged just eighteen. It’s ridiculous to think about, but Mainoo now feels like a dead-cert to be included in the EURO 2024 squad after just one start.
Hopefully, the new contract is signed off soon, giving Erik ten Hag one less headache to worry about.
