Man United offered the chance to sign Alvaro Morata

Man United have been given an opportunity to sign Alvaro Morata.

Strikers galore continue to be linked with a move to Man United this summer. It all came around due to Cristiano Ronaldo’s uncertain future.

Benjamin Sesko and Marko Arnautovic are options that have come and gone for different reasons. No doubt at this current time, the Old Trafford club are panicking.

Erik ten Hag needs another forward whom he can rely upon. Will Ronaldo leave? Will Anthony Martial stay fit? Both are big ifs.

Over the last 24 hours, United have had one potential option placed in their laps; Alvaro Morata.

It’s ESPN with the claim, who state that United have been ‘offered the chance’ to sign the 29-year-old striker this summer. He has 92 career goals to date.

Morata has one year left on his Atletico Madrid contract, though he has spent the last couple of seasons on loan in Italy with Juventus. Last season, he racked up 12 strikes in all competitions.

The Spaniard also has spent time with Chelsea in the past, where I think it’s fair to say Morata enjoyed mixed fortunes.

Morata is a different type of striker. He’s someone who excels with his back to goal. The hold-up play is his forte, whereas he does blow hot and cold when bearing down on goal.

Is that exactly what United need right now? I’m not so sure. The Red Devils need a proven goalscorer. Someone who can dig us out of a whole when we’re not playing well. That’s not to say Morata is a bad player. He’s just not the right fit for this current situation.

Whether this is a deal United are willing to explore remains a different question entirely. For all we know, the Old Trafford club aren’t even considering Morata as a serious option.
