Man United have completed the signing of youngster, Toby Collyer.
I think it’s fair to say that a change in tact is needed at Manchester United. Signing big-name players and managers simply hasn’t worked.
The Old Trafford club should get back to what has served them well for decades; bringing through youth, developing their talent and believing in their system.
Thankfully, the Old Trafford club have some mightily talented young starlets on their books. From Alejandro Garnacho, to Hannibal Mejbri, with a little Shola Shoretire sprinkled in between.
Just five days ago, we covered a claim from Fabrizio Romano, who stated that a deal had been reached for the club to sign Toby Collyer from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Now, Romano is back at it again. We have photo confirmation that the young defensive-midfielder has indeed signed for the Reds, on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Collyer apparently impressed during a trial last month, catching the eye of United coaches during a friendly game against Huddersfield Town – then progressed even further from there.
Before making the switch to Manchester, the 18-year-old made 28 appearances for both their U18 and U23s teams, playing a little over 2000 minutes. United also apparently beat out competition from Chelsea to sign Collyer (MEN).
I’d imagine it’ll be a little while before we truly see Collyer pushing for a place within the senior setup at United, but it’s good to learn that the club is still hoovering up plenty of emerging starlets from all around the globe.
The good news for Collyer is that United are somewhat light in the defensive-midfield position. Perhaps he could get an unexpected opportunity as a direct result of that – assuming we don’t invest in that area over the summer.
