Manchester United Football Club are on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign FC Barcelona wonderkid, Nico Gonzalez.
That’s according to Spanish media outlet Diario Sport, translated by The Sun. They say that the 16-year-old midfielder was set to move to FC Barcelona’s Juvenil A team next season, but things have now changed.
Nico is the son of former Deportivo star Fran, who now works with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. The Spaniard, who has captained Cadet A over the last twelve months, could follow his father to England this summer.
As with all youngsters, nobody really knows how quickly they’ll develop and grow, and there is always some risk involved. However, this lad is currently playing for FC Barcelona, whom have probably been the best talent-developers over the last decade; they rarely get it wrong.
The good thing for Gonzalez is that United are the premiere side when it comes to developing youth in England. If he’s good enough and proves his quality, he’ll fly through the reserve teams at Carrington; just look at Marcus Rashford, who came from absolutely nowhere when he made his debut over two years ago now.
