Man United are now considering an Alvaro Fernandez loan for the 2022/23 season.
At U23 and U18 level, Manchester United have been doing pretty well.
Players are developing nicely in both age groups, with the FA Youth Cup win the perfect way to demonstrate their success.
Amongst those who are impressing is Alvaro Fernandez. The ex-Real Madrid man came into Manchester and instantly looked like a future star.
The Spaniard has been training with the first-team of late, while he looks a good bet to head on pre-season tour as things stand.
However, we’re still not sure where he’ll be playing his football in 2022/23. The addition of Tyrell Malacia only further complicates things for the teenager.
Well, according to the Manchester Evening News, United are now ‘open’ to sending the talented 19-year-old out on loan this term.
Obviously, first-team minutes are going to be rather limited for Fernandez if he stays here in Manchester, with Luke Shaw and the aforementioned Malacia ahead in the pecking order.
Understandably, Fernandez is ‘eager’ to continue his development with his first taste of senior football, though sadly, it doesn’t look like he’ll be achieving that dream here in Manchester.
United sources have reiterated that any loan exit will have to be sanctioned by Ten Hag first, though playing time does look unlikely as things stand.
It’s also claimed that the Reds actually looked at sending Fernandez out on loan in the January just gone after many enquiries. So I don’t think it’ll be hard to find a potential suitor for the left-back this summer if the loan route is the road United want to take.
Either way, it’s going to be a big year for Fernandez who is seemingly intent on taking that next step.
