Man United aren’t against giving Bruno Fernandes a new contract, though it’s not an immediate priority.

Manchester United under INEOS are not afraid of making big decisions. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has to start being stricter than the Red Devils have been in years gone by, making smart choices that help this club move forward.

One decision that felt like an easy one to make, at least from my perspective, is a new contract for Bruno Fernandes. He is by far and away the Reds’ best player. They need to keep him happy at all costs, amid transfer interest in the Portuguese Magnifico.

Now, the Manchester Evening News have provided an update on Bruno’s situation. According to their latest information, United are ‘open’ to giving the 29-year-old a new contract.

However, it’s not a ‘priority’ at this moment in time and talks could take place after the current transfer window.

The MEN has once again claimed that Bayern Munich are keen on the attacking midfielder, while Inter Milan are also interested, amid Bruno’s uncertain future.

I still believe Bruno will stay. The ball remains in United’s court right now. He’s still under contract and there’s absolutely no way the club will let him go this window. However, you do have to keep him happy. He deserves to be the highest-paid player at this club and I have no issue at all with him asking for improved terms.

Let’s hope these talks take place early on in the new campaign. A happy Bruno is good for the whole dressing room.
