Manchester United Football Club are still a midfielder light. Going into the summer transfer window, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has that hole to fix.
Back in early May, we covered a story from TuttoMercatoWeb in which it was claimed that United were ‘amongst the strongest suitors’ to sign Adrien Rabiot.
Well, Rabiot and United are back in the headlines today. The story comes from Calciomercato, who claim that United are ‘open’ to signing the 25-year-old after being offered the chance to make the deal happen.
Apparently, his current club Juventus want £27million to let Rabiot leave, though United disagree on that fee.
Furthermore, Paul Pogba could be used as part of the deal though that’d mean Juve would have to spend more money – something that they don’t want to do.
Then you have to factor in Rabiot’s wage demands. The midfielder currently earns £5-6m a year net, while United aren’t prepared to offer him the same wage.
To me, it feels as if United’s interest is genuine, though whether their keenness to sign Rabiot will outweigh all the stumbling blocks is another matter. I honestly don’t see this deal happening unless Juve and Rabiot lower their demands pretty drastically.
Yes, he’s a good player. Yes, he’s had it tough in his career so far, but some of that blame has to be placed on his shoulders. After all, PSG and Juventus are two sides stacked with quality. Is a move to United really in his best interests? Because i honestly don’t see him breaking into our starting XI.
