The Man United owners have eyes on Torino defender, Alessandro Buongiorno, according to the latest information.
For the last 24 hours, Manchester United have been consistently linked with signing a new defender. That cannot be a coincidence…
Erik ten Hag welcomed Lisandro Martinez back to the fold after injury during the weekend just gone. It was undoubtedly a welcome boost for the Old Trafford side.
In the long-run, it’s about finding him the right partner. Several names have been linked with that job. Jarrad Branthwaite, Jean-Clair Todibo and Ronald Araujo, just to name a few.
Today, Football Transfers believe another name could be in the mix; Alessandro Buongiorno.
According to their information, United-owned INEOS has ‘set its sights’ on signing the 24-year-old defender.
Here’s where it gets interesting, the player is viewed as a potentially ‘promising’ addition to the squad – for either United or OGC Nice…
The defender has been ‘turning heads’ with some impressive Serie A performances for Torino, with a deal worth around £27m potentially in the offing.
I find it intriguing that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS is looking at signing United for either Buongiorno OR Nice. I guess that’s what happens when you have your finger in so many pies.
I’m not going to sit here and say Buongiorno is the next best thing, though I trust INEOS’ decision making until they prove otherwise.
This is a relatively cheap deal in this day and age, though it’s a deal that would be far more likely to happen in the summer rather than the winter transfer window, particularly as INEOS are probably still conducting their evaluation of the club at this stage.
I’d much prefer to see United sign Todibo from Nice, paving the way for the Ligue 1 side to bring in Buongiorno as his replacement.
