Man United are ready to make an effort to try and sign Harry Kane.

Manchester United Football Club are in dire need of a top-class centre-forward. Cristiano Ronaldo has departed. Wout Weghorst, for all his efforts, just isn’t good enough to lead the line for this side on a regular basis.

The Red Devils will likely have to get the chequebook out to bring in an elite striker. The name atop most people’s list is Harry Kane.

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled this term. They’ve just parted with another manager. Will that tempt Kane to finally fly the nest and move elsewhere?

Well, United are certainly going to try. According to The Telegraph, United plan to bid for the 29-year-old Premier League star, while negotiations with Daniel Levy have already begun.

United have started to make attempts to find out what it’d take to bring in Kane, as it becomes increasingly likely that he will not sign a new deal with the North London club.

What’s interesting is that Spurs sources currently believe there is little chance that Kane will commit, while the prospect of United making a serious offer for Kane is a ‘nightmare’ for Daniel Levy.

There can be no doubt that Kane would be an unreal signing. He’s in his prime years, scoring goals for fun and carrying Spurs this term. He still doesn’t have a single trophy to his name. United could end this campaign with two. Would that tempt him towards the Theatre of Dreams? It’s possible…

It would take a bid of at least £100m for Spurs to sell to a fellow Premier League club. Are United prepared to pay that under Glazer ownership? I’m not so sure.
