Man United plan to trigger Frenchman’s £85million release clause in the summer: report

Manchester United Football Club didn’t invest at all in the playing squad during the January transfer window, with the manager instead choosing to trim down as he parted with both Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay. However, I fully expect the summer to be completely different.

Now, the Daily Telegraph could have just offered us a huge update in terms of an incoming transfer, as they claim that Jose Mourinho is ready to trigger Antoine Griezmann’s £85million release clause when the window opens.

The report also adds that Paul Pogba has been helping out the Red Devils, as he has been trying to convince his French colleague that the weather isn’t as bad as he thinks…

Greizmann is just a delightful footballer to watch, and the thought of him playing in our famous red jersey definitely excites me. However, I don’t believe it’ll be easy to lure him away from Atletico Madrid as he seems to have a brilliant relationship with current boss, Diego Simeone.

If we’re to have any hope, I reckon that having Champions League football on the table is an absolute must. Be it qualification via our league position or by winning the Europa League, we simply have to be back in that tournament next season.

Then there is the small matter of the £85million release clause, which is obviously a hell of a lot of money. However, if Mourinho is willing to spend more than that on Paul Pogba, then I don’t see that being much of an issue for the Manchester United board.
