Here are our player ratings as Man United were battered by Newcastle United last night.
Andre Onana – Made a couple of decent saves and was always in control of his penalty area. 6/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Made some important tackles but lost Gordon as he made it 1-0. 4/10
Harry Maguire – Comfortably United’s best player. Looked like the only one who really wanted it. Great in the air. Won tackles. Even got forward late on. 7/10
Luke Shaw – Shifted to left centre-back. Was ok. Defended well for large stretches. 6/10
Diogo Dalot – Shifted to left-back and he wasn’t really good enough on either side of the ball. 4/10
Scott McTominay – Barely touched the ball as he was bullied in midfield throughout the game. Just not consistent enough. 3/10
Kobbie Mainoo – Looked like the calmest player on the pitch in a team full of experienced leaders. Steady. 5/10
Bruno Fernandes – Made a couple of penetrating passes as United looked to break, but that was about it. 5/10
Marcus Rashford – Dreadful. His attitude stunk. Couldn’t be bothered tracking back and helping his defenders at all. Looked scared when in possession. The worst I’ve ever seen him play. 1/10
Alejandro Garnacho – United’s brightest attacker. Worked hard on both sides of the ball and did look threatening on a couple of occasions. 5/10
Anthony Martial – Dreadful. Didn’t work for his teammates and looked disinterested on a cold night in the North East. 2/10
Subs:
Antony – Probably should have started.
Rasmus Hojlund – Worked hard but looked a little infuriated as soon as he came on…
Sofyan Amrabat – Didn’t change the game.
Sergio Reguilon – Had a couple of long-range efforts blocked.
