Man United player ratings during 1-0 win vs Lyon

Matej Kovar – Wasn’t really given too much to do when it comes to saving. Was tidy enough in possession. 6/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Had a couple of runs to track. Made one tackle of note. 6/10

Raphael Varane – Cool, calm and collected. Was not troubled at all. 6/10

Lisandro Martinez – Made a couple of ventures forward when United were on top. Looks back to his old self after injury. 7/10

Alvaro Fernandez – Somewhat shy in an attacking sense. Seemed content with passing back and keeping possession. Probably got away with a foul in the penalty area. 5/10

Kobbie Mainoo – Picked up where he left off last week. Does not look phased at this level. 6/10

Mason Mount – Sharp. It’s easy to see why he has been signed. Picks up nice pockets of space and always works hard. 7/10

Hannibal – Busy as per usual. Made some nice passes into the forwards. Typically hacked down a Lyon player late with a pretty awful tackle. 6/10

Amad – Earned a couple of chances early through hard work and good run-making. Couldn’t take them. Fizzled out after that. 5/10

Antony – Nice to see him back out there. Made some intelligent runs. 6/10

Jadon Sancho – Showed some fancy footwork on multiple occasions. It did not lead to a goal. 5/10

Subs:

Marc Jurado – Bombed up and down the right-flank throughout. Looked solid enough defensively. 6/10

Will Fish – The rumour is that he’s staying in Edinburgh for another season with Hibs. He was solid enough today, without really being tested. 6/10

Jonny Evans – Nice to see him back out there in reds colours after many years. He was good in the air and won plenty of important tackles. 6/10

Brandon Williams – Played at left-back. Did his defensive duties well. Not really involved in an attacking capacity. 6/10

Fred – Very busy. On the wrong end of a few pretty bad tackles. Covered every blade of grass for the cause. 6/10

Dan Gore – Played a wonderful ball in for the opening goal. Was very busy and always trying to make things happen. Looked good. 7/10

Donny van de Beek – That goal meant everything to him. He’s had a tough time of it at United but he played his part in the second half. 6/10

Omari Forson – Not as involved as he was last week. 5/10

Isak Hansen-Aaoren – Had a decent effort saved midway through the half. Looked lively once again. 6/10

Joe Hugill – Led the line well and made some intelligent runs forward. He’s a proper old-school striker with a bright future. 6/10
