Dean Henderson – Made a couple of comfortable saves and controlled his area well. Did clatter into Eric Bailly as the first-half was winding down, though. 6/10
Brandon Williams – Steady. It was nice to see him back out there but didn’t really do anything of note on either side of the ball. 5/10
Eric Bailly – Started well. Won headers and was positionally aware. Subbed off just before HT with what looked like some serious concussion. 5/10
Axel Tuanzebe – Looked calm and composed in that left centre-back slot. Was a key reason why we kept a clean sheet. 6/10
Alex Telles – His early corner led to the goal. Was a constant threat down the left-hand side. Very well played. 7/10
Scott McTominay – Captained the side and scored within five minutes, truly setting the right example. His inconsistent passing was the only thing that let him down on a proud night for his family. 7/10
Donny van de Beek – Brought some energy into the midfield. Showed some nice flicks and touches. 6/10
Juan Mata – Should’ve scored after some lovely link-up play with Van de Beek. Drifted in and out of the game. 5/10
Jesse Lingard – Hardly put himself in the shop window for potential buyers. 4/10
Daniel James – Started very brightly, but quickly regressed. 4/10
Mason Greenwood – His confidence is becoming a real concern. Just couldn’t get involved in the play enough. 4/10
Subs:
Harry Maguire – Put his head on everything.
Marcus Rashford – Too greedy.
Anthony Martial – Didn’t get into it.
Nemanja Matic – Not enough time to mark.
