Well, the Red Devils weren’t convincing but they got the job done. Here are our Man United player ratings during the 1-0 victory vs West Brom…
David de Gea – Didn’t really have an awful lot to do. Was well-beaten by a Robinson shot, but aside from that, he was an onlooker. 6/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Was fairly quiet in the first-half, though improved in the second 45 when the gaps started to open up. 5/10
Harry Maguire – Tough in the tackle and strong in the air. Pretty standard from our captain. 6/10
Victor Lindelof – Was an injury doubt coming into this one but played well. 6/10
Alex Telles – A steady Premier League debut. Didn’t bomb forward as much as I thought, though he was comfortable on the ball and positionally aware. 6/10
Nemanja Matic – Looked sluggish. I’ll put it down to a lack of match fitness, though we need better in future. 3/10
Fred – Decent, though he missed the energy and physicality that McTominay brings to the table. 5/10
Bruno Fernandes – The main instigator of the attack. Scored his penalty (second time around) and was always looking for that killer pass. 7/10
Juan Mata – Quiet. It just didn’t happen for him today. 4/10
Marcus Rashford – Missed a big chance to make it two. Wasn’t really in the game. 4/10
Anthony Martial – Should’ve opened the scoring early on. Was pretty average. 4/10
Subs:
Edinson Cavani – Showed some lovely little touches and made some excellent runs.
Donny van de Beek – Kept things ticking over.
Scott McTominay – Looked sharp.
