Man United player ratings during 2-1 loss to Sheffield United

David de Gea – Could have been stronger for the Sheffield United opener. Didn’t really have an awful lot to do aside from that. 4/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Did far more defending than you’d like in a game like this. Didn’t really threaten when United were going forward. 5/10

Axel Tuanzebe – Made some rash decisions and positionally poor. 4/10

Harry Maguire – Scored a bullet header to drag United back into it, but then let himself down with some woeful defending at the other end. 5/10

Alex Telles – Whipped in a lovely corner which Maguire headed home but aside from that he was far too passive. 4/10

Nemanja Matic – I’m not quite sure why he started this game, but he definitely didn’t take his opportunity. Nothing but a bystander. 2/10

Paul Pogba – Too sloppy and often tried to do too much. Just keep it simple. 4/10

Bruno Fernandes – Is going through his poorest spell in United colours and there’s no surprise it coincides with our worst performances. Just couldn’t get into it. 3/10

Anthony Martial – Atrocious. Gave it away every time he had it. Looked disinterested and spent more time moaning and sulking than putting in work. A dreadful display. 2/10

Marcus Rashford – Not much better than his French teammate, though at least he never stopped working. 4/10

Mason Greenwood – Missed a decent chance that he’d normally bury. Wasn’t involved anywhere near enough. 4/10

Subs:

Edinson Cavani – Didn’t get into it.

Luke Shaw – Tried to make things happen.

Donny van de Beek – Threw on out of sheer desperation.
