Our Man United player ratings during the 2-1 loss from the game vs Istanbul Basaksehir certainly make for grim reading, but here we go…
Dean Henderson – I feel for him, I really do. Had to pick the ball out of his net twice. And that was literally it. 5/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Wasn’t really asked to defend, so couldn’t show us his capabilities. Not good enough in an attacking sense. 3/10
Axel Tuanzebe – Partly at fault for Istanbul’s opener as he was nowhere to be seen. Hooked at half-time. 3/10
Harry Maguire – Didn’t really command the team and bark orders at players who were struggling. You need more from your captain. 3/10
Luke Shaw – Probably United’s best. Won tackles defensively and bombed down the flank all game. I’d like his final ball to be better, though. 5/10
Nemanja Matic – Utterly awful. Couldn’t pick a pass, was nowhere to be found when Demba Ba ran free and looked knackered. 2/10
Donny van de Beek – Decent. Kept things ticking over nicely but didn’t provide that cutting edge. I’m not quite sure why he was subbed. 5/10
Bruno Fernandes – Was trying to be too fancy when all he had to do was keep it simple. Pretty quiet. 3/10
Juan Mata – Bad. Slow, couldn’t pick a pass and was muscled off the ball far too easily for the Basaksehir second. 3/10
Marcus Rashford – Had no service, but he didn’t really do an awful lot to try and get into the game. 3/10
Anthony Martial – Scored a lovely header, but that was about it. 4/10
Subs:
Scott McTominay – Came on at half-time but didn’t really make a game-changing impact.
Edinson Cavani – Couldn’t get into the game.
Paul Pogba – Tried to play the Hollywood ball way too often.
Mason Greenwood – Didn’t get into it.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah – I’m still unsure as to why he was subbed on.
