Man United player ratings during 4-0 pre-season win vs Liverpool

David de Gea – Made a couple of smart saves early. 6/10

Diogo Dalot – All the action was down the other flank so he had a fairly quiet game. Always willing to move up the pitch, though. 5/10

Raphael Varane – Was extremely willing to play higher up the field than we have seen over the last year. 7/10

Victor Lindelof – Isolated on a couple of occasions due to United’s high press. Defended well under the circumstances. Won some key headers. 7/10

Luke Shaw – Linked up well with Sancho in particular down the left. Bombed forward wherever possible. 5/10

Scott McTominay – Started sluggishly but then got more involved as the first half wore on. Typically wasn’t afraid to get stuck in. 5/10

Fred – Hit and miss. Made some crucial interceptions and tackles to set United on their way. Passed up a glorious opportunity to play Sancho through one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but made up for it with a sublime chip to make it 2-0! 6/10

Bruno Fernandes – Was involved in everything good about our attacking play. Picked out some beautiful passes and made some key runs. Played one outrageous ball into Sancho. 7/10

Jadon Sancho – Looked lively from minute one. Willing to take people on and make things happen. Opened the scoring with a lovely finish and continued to threaten throughout. Superb. 8/10

Marcus Rashford – Played full of confidence and intent. Linked up well with Martial. 6/10

Anthony Martial – Led the line well. Worked hard on and off the ball and really set the tone for a positive performance. Scored a lovely goal with a chip. 8/10

Subs:

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Most of the action came down the other flank, but did his duties well enough in United’s third of the field. 5/10

Eric Bailly – Showed his pace on more than one occasion. Defended well. Created the fourth with a scintillating surge forward. 6/10

Alex Telles – Defended nicely. Didn’t really get involved too much from centre-back. 5/10

Tyrell Malacia – Nice to see the new signing in action. Looks comfortable on the ball and he’s got plenty of pace. 6/10

Charlie Savage – Distributed the ball brilliantly from midfield. Held his own against the likes of Keita and Fabinho. 6/10

Zidane Iqbal – Looked more than comfortable in the heart of united’s midfield. Kept it ticking over nicely. Impressive. 6/10

Donny van de Beek – Didn’t really get into it. 3/10

Facundo Pellistri – Had a quiet first 30 minutes, but rounded off a lovely team move with a cracking finish. 5/10

Amad – Somewhat careless in possession for the most part, though picked up an assist as Pellistri made it 4! 5/10

Anthony Elanga – Wasn’t great in the passing game but always worked hard. 4/10

Tom Heaton – A second-half sub as De Gea left with an injury. 5/10

  1. Well done boys! But we shouldn’t be carried away with the result of the friendly match and decide not to bring new players.
One thing thing I’m happy for is that Eric Ten Hag has brought his phylosophy to the team. With four or more players added to the team, we are sure of competing with the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc. in the EPL.
