Paul Pogba is one of those rare players who can split fan opinion like no other. The mercurial Frenchman has been plagued by inconsistency since his return to Old Trafford, though his natural talent has always been undeniable.
Having been out injured since the back end of September, the rumours about Pogba’s long-term Manchester United future had started to build. The last story we covered came from the Daily Mail, who just yesterday claimed that the midfielder won’t be allowed to leave Old Trafford in January.
Well, now The Mirror has a completely different take. They reckon that United players are convinced that the superstar 26-year-old has played his last game for the club…
Pogba was expected to make an injury return this week, but for a mystery illness to usurp those plans. Now his teammates and United officials both believe he’ll never pull on the red shirt again as the January transfer window looms.
Furthermore, Pogba is still determined to force his way out of Old Trafford, though United insist he’ll be going nowhere in January – as he’s a key part of Solskjaer’s plans.
For me, it seems inevitable that Pogba will leave next summer, though his handling of the situation certainly feels unprofessional at best. I seriously thought he’d come back to United and tear up the Premier League. Instead, he’s been pretty average for the most part.
Now it just feels as though he’s disrespecting the club and the fans by going out to Miami to play basketball while injured coupled with constant chitter-chatter in the media, now this latest ‘setback’ is another incident that has left Solskjaer trying to defend a player who just doesn’t want to be here.
Can you honestly say we’ve missed Pogba in his absence? For me, we haven’t really, and I do believe United can get someone far better who actually wants to be here…
