Man United plotting £45million move for talented 21-goal striker: report

With the season now over we’re fully expecting the transfer rumours to go into overdrive. The latest name to be linked with Manchester United is that of Nicolas Pepe.

The report comes from the Daily Mirror, who say that the Red Devils are weighing up a £45million move for the 23-year-old Pepe.

Pepe has been an integral cog in a Lille team that are set to finish second in the Ligue 1 this term, with the forward scoring 21 goals in 36 games while improving almost on a game-by-game basis.

United aren’t the only team interested in signing Pepe, though, with both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain also keen on signing the Frenchman.

The Mirror’s article goes on to state that doubts surrounding Romelu Lukaku’s future is the reason why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is potentially in the market for an attacker, while Pepe ‘ticks every box’ for the Norwegian.

Pepe’s biggest selling point is his versatility. Not only can he play through the middle but he can also play off the right-hand side – a key area of need for United.

It all comes back down to Champions League football. For me, that’s why PSG are probably the frontrunners to sign Pepe but if United want to throw a big wage in his direction then maybe the 23-year-old could be persuaded to head to Old Trafford.
