Manchester United are ready to test Fulham’s stubbornness, with the Red Devils set to make a £50million bid for Ryan Sessegnon.
That’s according to The Sun per The Metro, with the report adding that The Cottagers are understandably keen on rejecting any approaches for the 18-year-old starlet.
Sessegnon enjoyed a stunning season for Fulham, playing all across their left-hand side, although his main position is at left-back. He scored sixteen goals and tacked on eight assists across all competitions, helping his side to an extremely deserved promotion to the Premier League.
Left-back has been a real problem issue ever since Jose Mourinho took charge at United. In fact, the club have never really replaced Patrice Evra, who left Old Trafford some years ago now.
Seeing interest in Sessegnon come to fruition is a hugely positive sign. He’s young, immensely talented and learning the game all the time.
Personally, though, I just don’t see him leaving Craven Cottage this summer. He’ll want to try his hand in the Premier League for a year before getting that big move to a top-six club; rather than moving this transfer window and wasting away on the bench for at least twelve months.
With that said, United do need a new full-back who can replace the evergreen Ashley Young in the not too distant future…
