Manchester United Football Club are targeting a surprise move for Manchester City outcast, Joe Hart.
That’s what The Sun says in an exclusive, with Jose Mourinho expecting to lose David de Gea’s back-up goalkeeper, Sergio Romero.
Hart, 31, spent 2017/18 out on loan with West Ham United, but he’ll be back at City this summer; presumably in the short-term, while he plans his next career move.
Romero has been an excellent deputy ever since his arrival at Old Trafford, and losing him would be a huge shame. He’s reliable, never moans and is a superb shot-stopper. I’d argue that he’d start for most Premier League sides week-in-week-out.
It’d be disappointing to lose the Argentina international, but I’d be even more gutted if we replaced him with the mediocre Hart. This is a player who’s confidence is low, flaps at absolutely everything and struggles dealing with the most simplest of shots.
To be brutally honest I’d much prefer to see the Red Devils promote Joel Pereira to the deputy role. He’s talented, ever-improving and hungry to impress the manager. Plus, Mourinho absolutely loves the young man from Portugal. It seems like the perfect opportunity to give him a real show of faith.
