Manchester United definitely improved their defence over the summer, by adding Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. However, the work in that area of the pitch seemingly isn’t done…
According to The Sun, United are poised to make another move for the 22-year-old defender Ruben Dias. However, the player could now cost £80million…
The Red Devils were hoping to sign Dias over the summer, but eventually came up short in their pursuit. Now, Benfica is set to give the player a new contract – increasing his release clause from £60million to £80million…
Although Dias is a top quality player who’s only going to get better, do we really need another defender? Axel Tuanzebe is always improving, while Victor Lindelof is a steady partner for Harry Maguire.
When you factor in that United have conceded the joint-second fewest amount of goals in the Premier League this term, I’d personally like to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer focus his attentions further up the field at this point in time.
Perhaps a new creative midfielder and a 20+ goal-a-season striker should be the priorities rather than spending £80million on another centre-back?
That’s not to doubt Dias’ ability, but I just feel we have far more pressing matters going into a crucial twelve months for the Baby Faced Assassin at Old Trafford.
