Manchester United Football Club made two important signings in the January transfer window, though for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, this has to be just the start.
It’s fair to say he needs full backing from The Glazers and Edward Woodward this summer. Simply put, big money has to be pumped into the playing squad in order for United to compete for another title.
Amongst the areas that need serious work is the attacking-midfield spot. The 20-time Premier League champions are craving for a quality playmaker who can make things happen. Enter, Jack Grealish…
According to The Mirror, United are ‘poised to prioritise’ a huge summer bid for the 24-year-old, following news that James Maddison is close to signing a new deal at Leicester City.
Links to Maddison have been pretty firm over the last nine months or so, we’ve covered several updates in regards to that move here. However, recently, it feels as though Grealish has overtaken Maddison in the United pecking order…
For me, I had always been a Maddison man. Over the last couple of months, though, I’ve definitely felt more love for Grealish. He has that swagger that’s required of a United player. An arrogance and confidence in which you need to succeed at the highest level. Can you imagine how much better he’d get when playing with a better squad around him, too?
I guess it all comes down to what Grealish wants. No club in England can offer him a platform like United can, while leaving his boyhood club isn’t going to be easy. My guess is that he’d want to guide them to survival, if that happens then maybe he’d move on.
For now, though, I just hope United are doing the behind-the-scenes groundwork in order to get an edge in the race to sign Grealish should he decide to leave Aston Villa. It’d be an absolute privilege to watch this guy ply his trade at Old Trafford.
