Man United poised to sign Stoke centre-back Nathan Collins: report

This Manchester United squad is in an absolute mess. There’s too much work for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to complete in one window but the Baby Faced Assassin has to start somewhere.

Although no player has been signed yet, we may not be far away from our first incoming transfer if the latest report from the Daily Mail is to be believed.

They’re claiming that United are ‘poised to sign’ Stoke City centre-half Nathan Collins. Furthermore, it comes off a recommendation from none other than Darren Fletcher.

The ex-United midfielder has been impressed with Collins, whom Fletcher would have seen up close and personal during Potters training sessions.

Collins, who is only 18, played three games for Stoke this season, but again, moving for a player so young reaffirms the belief that United are trying to make moves for young up-and-comers rather than making big-name signings.

With Fletcher being linked with a directorial role at United last week, this could be the Scot trying to further his claim to be handed such job. Although it’s not to the liking of everyone, bringing someone in who knows the club inside-out is exactly what we need at this point, in my opinion anyway…
