Man United ‘positive’ about getting Tyrell Malacia deal done ‘soon’

Man United are in direct contact with the agents of Tyrell Malacia as they look to get a deal done.

Although it has been a pretty slow start to the transfer window, you get the impression that Manchester United are beginning to wake up.

A move for Frenkie de Jong feels closer, while out of nowhere, links to young left-back Tyrell Malacia grew.

Suddenly, it feels as though the Dutchman will be United’s first addition of the summer, likely challenging Luke Shaw for that left-back berth.

The latest update in the transfer saga that’s happened pretty quickly comes from Fabrizio Romano.

Apparently, United are feeling ‘positive’ about getting a ‘deal done soon’, while Malacia’s agents remain in ‘direct contact’ with the Reds.

Price-wise, it’s pretty friendly to United. There’s an upfront cost of £13m, with another £1.5m available in add-ons and bonuses.

It’s worth noting that Malacia is still very young in the grand scheme of things, aged just 22 and only having one or two full seasons under his belt at the professional level.

It could also be the kick up the backside that Luke Shaw needs. We have to be honest, the Englishman has struggled for any sort of form of late and some firm competition from Malacia could push him to that next level.

Erik ten Hag will have seen a lot of Malacia from his time over in the Netherlands, which is another big positive for the Old Trafford club. Our new manager knows this player very well.

Hopefully, there’s not much pressure on Malacia to play from day one. He’ll absolutely need some time to settle in and it’s up to us to give him that.
