Man United could sell both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof this summer.
Erik ten Hag has a clear way of playing. Fit into that system and work hard, or move on. It really is that simple.
Some players have come to the fore under the Dutchman. Others have seen their minutes drastically reduce. A couple of players who were once regulars and have since their noses pushed out are Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
The pair were regular starters under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, though that has changed under Ten Hag. Now, those two could find themselves out of the exit door.
It’s Football Insider with the story. They claim that United ‘are prepared’ to sell the defensive duo this summer.
Apparently, the Red Devils are in the market for a new centre-back, though Ten Hag wants a ‘clearout’ of his current defenders in order to make squad space for new arrivals.
Napoli’s Kim Min-Jae sits atop the current wishlist, with United regularly scouting the Serie A star this season.
Both Maguire and Lindelof have completely fallen down the pecking order this term. The situation of the former is made much tougher because he remains club captain. Obviously, stripping him of the captaincy probably makes more media headlines than selling the Englishman.
There has already been rumours suggesting that Maguire could be sold, though the more you look at it, the more sense it makes to move him on. Finding a buyer could be tough due to his hefty wages, mind.
Lindelof’s situation is much less complicated. I actually believe the Swede is the better defender of the two, while across Europe, he probably has much more of a market. He’s also younger, which is another plus for any potential buyer.
