Manchester United Football Club could be about to shock the world with an audacious attempt to bring Neymar to Old Trafford.
That’s according to Don Balon, per the Daily Express, who says that Jose Mourinho is prepared to use Anthony Martial as bait in a shock swap deal.
Apparently, the Red Devils are prepared to bid £242million AND Martial to land the Brazil superstar; in what would be the biggest swap deal in footballing history.
Martial has already revealed that he wants to leave Old Trafford, and a move back to his homeland with Paris-Saint Germain certainly would make a lot of sense. It’s somewhere he’d be given the regular football that his talent deserves, and I’ve always maintained the fact that he is 100% correct to demand that.
As for Neymar, he simply shouldn’t be playing in Ligue 1. With his immense abilities, he should be in the Premier League, La Liga or Bundesliga; it’s as simple as that. Obviously, he’d cost a pretty penny, but at 26, he’s rapidly approaching the peak of his career. If United did sign him now, they’d be getting a footballer for his best years, and that’s something that cannot be understated.
I wouldn’t put it past United to break the bank to bring in Neymar, they’ve done it before with Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku et al. My only concern would be that Neymar hasn’t played in such a physical league like English football’s top flight will bring – for that reason alone, any deal has to be considered a risk.
