Man United are looking at Inter Milan midfielder, Marcelo Brozovic, as a potential summer signing.
The Jadon Sancho deal is over the line, while Tom Heaton has sealed a Manchester United return. Now, attentions turn towards securing other targets in key positions.
There’s two big needs still remaining; centre-back and midfield. Today, a new midfielder has been thrown into the mix; Marcelo Brozovic.
The story comes from La Repubblica, with the information relayed by FC Inter 1908. They state that United are preparing a £25m offer to sign the classy 28-year-old midfielder, whose contract with Inter is entering into the final year.
Apparently, the Croatian is struggled to agree to new terms with the Serie A giants, while United will be joined by FC Barcelona, who are also preparing an offer of a similar fee.
Brozovic has made close to 250 appearances for Inter since his arrival six years ago, becoming one of the mainstays in their squad under numerous managers.
Now, United and Barca could pounce at a time where Inter must make a big decision. They either have to risk losing him for nothing next summer, or cash in now for a value much lower than they’d probably like.
First and foremost, I love this rumour. United are crying out for a proper defensive-midfielder and Brozovic is exactly that. What’s most appealing is that he’s got that physicality and toughness to his game that our midfield often lacks. He’d provide that bite, that tenacity that would add another dimension to our already talented squad.
At just £25million, it’d be negligent on United’s part if they didn’t seriously explore getting this deal done. What an astute signing it’d be, too.
