Man United are seemingly looking to add Joules Kounde to the playing squad – regardless of whether or not they sign Raphael Varane.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is continuing his overhaul of the Manchester United playing squad. The addition of Jadon Sancho was massive, though there’s still much work ahead.
Working on the defence is the next big priority. Harry Maguire has been United’s only consistent centre-half over the last couple of seasons and he needs help.
The latest from the Daily Mail on Sunday says United are interested in signing Sevilla centre-half, Joules Kounde.
Apparently, the Old Trafford club is ‘preparing a move’ to sign the 22-year-old, as defensive reinforcements remain Solskjaer’s top priority.
It’s worth noting that seemingly, any deal for Kounde would be as well as one for Raphael Varane, rather than instead of. It’s stated by the Daily Mail that the Reds are still ‘pushing ahead’ with a deal to sign the Real Madrid star too…
Back to Kounde for a while, a handful of clubs remain keen on signing the emerging youngster. Chelsea, Tottenham and Real Madrid are all credited with interest along with United.
What makes Kounde such an attractive proposition is his versatility. He can also play at right-back, meaning he’d also be great competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in that area of the field.
Understandably, Sevilla don’t want to lose their star centre-back, who has a contract until 2024, though they’re bracing themselves for serious interest during this window. The good news for the La Liga club is that he’s tied down in the long-term, meaning they can command a hefty transfer fee.
I’m not going to sit here and wax lyrical about a player I’ve barely seen in action. However, Solskjaer’s transfer judgement has been excellent so far. Who are we to disagree with the Baby Faced Assassin?
