Man United ‘preparing’ to make move to sign Harry Kane

Man United are ready to make their move to sign Harry Kane.

It’s no secret that Manchester United’s number-one target going into the summer window is a top-tier striker. The Old Trafford club lost Cristiano Ronaldo back in December, while Anthony Martial’s fitness has left plenty to be desired.

Several names have been linked with an Old Trafford switch. Perhaps the most obvious is Harry Kane. The Englishman is yet to win anything at Tottenham Hotspur, while he could be tempted to work with an elite manager like Erik ten Hag.

The latest update in the brewing saga comes from the Daily Star. They state that United are ‘preparing to make their move’ to sign the star 29-year-old this coming summer.

Apparently, the Spurs man is Ten Hag’s top priority, which is understandable given their lack of options up top. On top of that, United will not wait until the end of the season to make their move, rather, they’re hopeful of starting negotiations sooner rather than later over an £80m deal.

Kane will be in big demand this summer, with Bayern Munich and Chelsea also credited with an interest in the Englishman. You’d suspect that Spurs would prefer to sell overseas, rather than Kane staying in England. However, I get the feeling he’d be intent on remaining in the Premier League as he looks to break Alan Shearer’s record.

In terms of transfer fee, I’m not sure £80m would be anywhere close to enough. However, if I’m United, I wouldn’t go much higher purely due to Kane’s age. He’ll be 30 this summer and how many more elite years does he have left?

No doubt this rumour will rumble on for the months leading up to a huge summer window for United.
