As we edge ever-closer to arguably the most important summer transfer window of Manchester United’s recent history, the stories are understandably starting to ramp up…

Amongst the names that are already cropping up pretty frequently is Jack Grealish. The Englishman, who is Aston Villa’s icon, could well face the prospect of leaving his boyhood club in the summer if they get relegated.

We’ve covered Grealish rumours pretty extensively here on Old Trafford Faithful, though we’ve been given another update today.

The story comes from the Daily Star, who write that United are prepared to pay up to £70million to land the superstar 24-year-old, while the player himself could actually triple his current £60k-a-week wages if he makes the switch.

It goes without saying that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has work to do at United. Signing a player of Grealish’s calibre would definitely be a step in the right direction.

I have always been a James Maddison over Jack Grealish kinda’ guy, though this season my view has changed somewhat. Grealish has that swagger, that arrogance, that belief. I’d be fine with either, but right now, I am swaying towards the Villa man.

Sure, he wouldn’t come cheap. Yes, it’s going to take probably all summer to get the move done, but United should be all over this one, with the groundwork hopefully already being put in by Solskjaer, Edward Woodward and company…
