Man United ‘pushing hard’ to sign Malcolm Ebiowei

Man United are working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring Malcolm Ebiowei to the club.

I have to be honest, it has been a disappointingly slow start to the summer at Manchester United.

Several players will leave the club upon their contract expiry in a couple of weeks, though we’re yet to hear anything concrete in terms of incomings.

It’s sad to see, particularly as all the sides around us have only strengthened their squads since the final ball of the 2021/22 season was kicked.

United continue to be linked with every name under the sun which is to be expected. However, it feels like we’ve been given some concrete information (finally!).

It’s the usually reliable Jonathan Shrager with the story, who claims that United are ‘pushing hard’ to sign young attacker, Malcolm Ebiowei. On top of that, the representatives of the player are also ‘keen’ on the deal.

Ebiowei has made a name for himself under Wayne Rooney at Derby County. The England U16 international is actually available on a free transfer this summer due to his expiring contract.

Aged just eighteen, Ebiowei would be a signing for the future, though he’s also a player who could do a job as a rotational option in 2022/23. There’s no doubt that Erik ten Hag has earmarked the youngster as someone with massive potential going forward.

His primary position is a right-winger, though the teenager has also shown the ability to play either in the attacking midfield spot, or even as a forward.

What’s nice about this signing is that it’s risk free due to the lack of a transfer fee. Ebiowei would be able to come in, learn from some of the best players and coaches in the world and slowly develop his talent.

Hopefully, Wazza can also put a good word in his ear about moving to Old Trafford!
