Man United quoted £53million to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma: report

Manchester United have held onto David de Gea for far longer than many of us probably expected – but you get the feeling that his time at Old Trafford is drawing down to its conclusion.

With that in mind, a replacement must be sought out. To be fair to the Red Devils, the goalkeeper position is one they’ve gotten very right over the last decade or so. Let’s hope that trend continues.

The latest name linked with a move to fill De Gea’s shoes is AC Milan’s mega-talented Gianluigi Donnarumma. It feels as though the young Italian has been around forever, yet he’s still just twenty years of age.

Today’s report from Corriere della Serra is claiming that United have ‘asked’ Donnarumma’s agent, Mino Raiola, about the shot-stopper’s availability – and the Reds were quoted a fee of €60m (£53m) to buy the Milan man.

In this day and age, that’s relatively cheap. Donnarumma has almost 150 Serie A games under his belt already which is pretty incredible when you think about it.

AC’s asking price is so low as they’re trying to cut costs due to FFP regulations and Donnarumma is their highest earner so not only would they get a transfer fee, but the Italian side would also be getting some big wages off their books.

Personally I think United could do a whole lot worse than moving for Donnarumma – although like De Gea, he’d probably need time to settle to life in England.
