Player Ratings: Crystal Palace vs Man United (Premier League away, 2020)

Manchester United made hard work of it, but in the end, three points were all that mattered. The 2-0 win probably flatters the Red Devils in truth. Do we care though? Absolutely not. It’s time for our Man United ratings vs Palace…

David de Gea – Made a few important saves at vital times to preserve his clean-sheet. His best outing in a while. 8/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – We saw some of those trademark tackles on full display, though it was a pretty tough night for the Englishman in an offensive capacity. 5/10

Victor Lindelof – My unpopular opinion on *that* incident was that it wasn’t a foul. Aside from the controversial moment, I thought the Ice Man was pretty good… 6/10

Harry Maguire – Had a few chances to score from corners in the first half. However, he didn’t put a foot wrong defensively. A captain’s outing. 7/10

Timothy Fosu-Mensah – Seriously, all credit to Timbo. He was steady. Defensively he was sound, though I’d like to see him show a little bit more ambition when going forward. 6/10

Scott McTominay – Not bad, but not brilliant either. He works hard but sometimes, there’s an unwillingness to mop up and do the dirty work. 5/10

Paul Pogba – Started sloppily. Couldn’t get on the ball enough. It changed in the second half and he began to control proceedings. 6/10

Bruno Fernandes – Similar to his midfield partner Pogba, really. Should have scored midway through the second half, but he rattled the post. Still, everything good goes through him. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – Outstanding. The work-ethic, on-ball quality and genius of the man was on full display. He sold three Palace players a dummy for the first goal and his insane run for the second was just as good. 8/10

Mason Greenwood – Quiet. Perhaps he’s still struggling with a minor ankle issue? Just couldn’t get on the ball. 3/10

Anthony Martial – Rounded off a stunning team goal in the final quarter of the game. He’s getting better and better under Solskjaer. 7/10

Nemanja Matic – Helped tilt the game in our favour.

Jesse Lingard – Kept things ticking over. Didn’t play badly at all.
