Man United have reached an agreement with West Ham over the possible sale of Harry Maguire.

Manchester United’s attention has now turned to selling players. Erik ten Hag has to generate some funds before he can further invest in the playing squad.

One of the names rumoured to be up for sale was Harry Maguire. The Englishman had fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, while he’d also see his captain’s armband taken away from him.

No doubt that irked the Englishman, who probably instantly began to consider his future at the club. Rumours about a sale have been swirling for quite some time now. However, we’ve been given the clearest indication that a move away is close.

It’s Fabrizio Romano with the news. He makes a bold claim, stating that United have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ with West Ham over the sale of player, for a £30m transfer fee.

It’s stated that the verbal agreement is subject to final ‘key points’ on deal structure, but the fee is now agreed (per Sky Sports). Personal terms will now be discussed soon.

This makes a lot of sense. I’d also state that £30m isn’t a bad fee given his recent performances for United. It’s fair to say Maguire has struggled over the last couple of years.

He’s now at that point where confidence is low, which only breeds further mistakes and problems. You saw it against Athletic Club at the weekend. Another glaring error was made and it’s now a case of feeling sorry for Maguire – particularly with fans on his back.

This move seems like the best scenario for all involved. I don’t doubt Maguire will do well at West Ham, too.
